Privacy Policy

GenAreUS ("we," "us," or "our") operates genareus.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. We keep this simple on purpose. If something is unclear, email us at hello@genareus.com.

What we collect

When you make a purchase

  • Name, email address, and shipping address.
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card number).
  • Order details and transaction history.

When you subscribe to our email list

  • Email address.
  • Date and source of subscription.

When you nominate a hero

  • The hero's name, city, state, and category.
  • The story you submit about them.
  • A photo, if you choose to upload one.
  • Your name and email address.

When you browse the site

  • IP address, browser type, and device information.
  • Pages visited and time on site.
  • Referring URL.

We collect browsing data through Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites.

How we use it

We use your data to:

  • Process and fulfill your orders.
  • Send order confirmations and shipping updates.
  • Send marketing emails (only with your consent).
  • Publish hero nomination stories (only after editorial review and with reasonable basis to believe the submission is legitimate).
  • Improve the site and understand how people use it.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising purposes.

AI processing

Hero nomination stories submitted through our nomination form may be processed by an AI writing tool (powered by Anthropic) to refine and polish the copy before publication. The original submission is stored alongside the AI-refined version. Neither version is shared with Anthropic for training purposes under our current API agreement. If you do not want your submission processed this way, email us at hello@genareus.com before submitting.

Third-party services

We work with the following services. Each has its own privacy policy.

  • Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy).
  • Print-on-demand provider — order fulfillment and shipping.
  • Sanity — content management (sanity.io/privacy).
  • Klaviyo — email marketing (klaviyo.com/legal/privacy-notice).
  • Cloudflare — hosting and analytics (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).
  • Anthropic — AI story processing (anthropic.com/privacy).

When you place an order, your shipping address and order details are shared with our print-on-demand provider to fulfill and ship your order. Your payment details are handled entirely by Stripe.

Cookies

We use minimal cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies. Stripe may set cookies during checkout to process your payment securely. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. For details, see our Cookie Notice.

Hero stories and photos

When someone nominates a hero, they represent that they have a reasonable basis for the information submitted and that any photo uploaded has been shared with the subject's knowledge or is otherwise appropriate to share publicly.

If you are the subject of a hero story and want it removed, email hello@genareus.com with your name and a description of the submission. We will remove it within 5 business days.

Data retention

We keep order and customer data for 7 years to comply with tax and accounting requirements. We keep email subscriber data until you unsubscribe — you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send. We keep hero nomination data indefinitely unless you request deletion.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Withdraw consent for email marketing at any time.
  • Request removal of a published hero story.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@genareus.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, contact hello@genareus.com and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
